I've used the search function, but didn't find anything on the status of the socket burn issue. So, has the 1156 socket burn issue been solved with the current revision of the various boards, or is the root cause of the problem still unknown? Is it due to the certain socket manu (Foxconn/Lotes) or inherent design issue with fewer power pins compared to socket 1366? What's the status on this right now?

I want to buy the i7 860 instead of spending even more for i7 920/x58, if the socket issue is now solved.

Its down to the cheapo Foxconn sockets, they aren't putting even pressure on the CPU so some of the VTT pins aren't contacting.

IIRC all of the P55A boards are fine, or you could always go with an EVGA board to be sure.

Btw the burn issues only show up under LN2/DICE.
