Is it possible to use a LGA775 backplate + CPU block on a Socket 1366 motherboard? Are the holes spaced differently?
I read somewhere that he got his Apogee GT to work fine with a X58 board, which is what I have. If not, where can I get a cheap but well performing CPU Block that's 1/2'? Thanks.
1366 and 755 have different mounting holes. I know the foxconn boards have both sets of mounting holes, not sure if others do or not. I think I've seen new 1366 backplates for the Apogee blocks, but I won't swear to that.
Sorry, but what do you mean by both sets of mounting holes? If the holes are spaced differently how you come up with a different location of the mounting holes? I am planning on ordering a Foxconn Bloodrage, do you know where I could find these sets of mounting holes? Thanks for the replies
The Bloodrage has both 775 and 1366 mounting holes. I would definitely urge you to get a 1366 back plate, though, as the 775 waterblock back plates do not fit properly on the Bloodrage.
To clarify for the OP, you need a block and backplate for 1366. There are a lot of components on the back of the board beneath the CPU, even if the board has holes for a 775 mount, the backplate would probably interfere with these components.
