i personally think there fugly, but i guess they have super high build quality.
The build quality extremely high on these cases. I dont like there look and thus would never consider buying or trading for one.
There made in ?japan? and are super rare, and the only way to get them is if you can find someone in africa thats selling them. or something like that.
The craftsmanship, quality, and rarity. It's something along the lines of having a Ferrari. If you're into cars and can afford the best, you get it. The idea of having the creme of crop appeals to a lot of people, and Soldams are certainly it in the PC arena.
So would their build quality be on par or higher than something like Lian Li or Silverstone?
They are generally known to build the best cases. Better then any other mass manufacture. They are rare, and if I remember correctly, they were the company that came up with the first all aluminum case. (or something to that effect)

Like mentioned before, they are a high end case, that mostly only true geeks seek.

more like on a tier above them.

soldam cases generally involve more detail on the inside, better fit and finish, and wonderful finishes - inside and out.

i like their exteriors because they're beveled.

The top of the line enthusiast case.

The only one that appeals to me is the Black Knight one. (At least, I think that was what it was called). $1200.. :S

You have to kill a unicorn, cut off its horn and stick it up your arse, then take a picture and send it to soldam along with 5 kilos of solid gold ancient greek coins, then they will send you a fugly but very well made case.

The question is.. why haven't other manufacturers produced a very high end model too?

Yeah, but I did all that and they still said no. I really hated giving up the Greek gold coins too.

In all seriousness, if I ever came into a large amount of 'found money', I would so buy one just for the e-peen.

Oh, I would totally buy one too but they have never been "worth the money" for most folks.

Well coming from someone that has owned over 10 Soldam cases, as well as cases from Silverstone, Lian Li, Coolermaster, etc, the build quality of Soldam is unsurpassed. The anodized interiors are beautiful to behold. The exterior, while not as flashy as some other cases, is simple and elegant with a unique look to it. Every Soldam I have owned has been a dream to work inside. The attention to detail is unsurpassed. With that said, they are not 1200 like some other people have mentioned. I can get them from anywhere from 250.00 to 1200.00. It all depends on which model you want. The XR-1 black knight (picture shown above) will average about 750-850 US for one shipped from Japan. It is also a case that gets respect from other enthusiasts, so if you want an eye catching case that your friends will covet, these are perfect. Getting them from Japan is no harder than getting something from the UK. It is all about having a clear distribution system, which for new cases, I have worked out. Older, discontinued cases are a different story.

totally unimpressed....just totally....

i will stick with my $60 CM centurion 590 from micro-center.

i look at this way, my computer sets in its case, which sets on a table, the 590 is physically appealing enough, and from all the cases i have owned, it is a pleasure to work on it/in it.

spending more than a $100 on a mid tower case, is kinda moronic to me, spending more than $200 on a full tower case, is even more moronic.

the only people who see my computer are friends and family, and the only ones who would drool over my case is my best friend, and i am not gonna spend that much to impress him, and i honestly doubt, he even knows what a soldam case is.

Well, I'll put it this way. If I were to spend $500+ on a case, it would definitely be a soldam.
