I was using VGA ->VGA-DVI->GPU

Just hooked up a new DVI-DVI cable, and GTA4 looks messed up. I knew right away just in the loading screen with the characters pictures, their outer edges are all jagged.

In game same thing, many lines that looked solid and smooth are now jagged, even the lines on the GPS are jagged, and even the words asking if you want to quit are messed up.

I checked Far Cry 2 and Fallout NV, and they look at least as good as I remember, and I checked some 700MB .avi movies and they looked normal too.

The animated smilies to my left as I type look more pixelated than I remember too.

If there's no fix for this GTA4 problem, I'll go back to the other.

Any thoughts

I am using LCD DVI to GPU DVI

jpegs look WAY better than I remember, BFBC2 looks normal or better.

I only had this 6950 for about 2 weeks, so I'm only now getting to play some of the big games they way they should be.

If I have to , I'll switch back and forth, because to makes GTA4 look ridiculously crappy.

What about HDMI? You should try that and see what happens.

The in game resolution was set to 800x600, thats why it looked so bad.

I just set to back to 1080p, and it looks great.

Why the game took it upon itself to change that....???

Possibly because it detected a new display type (since you changed from VGA to DVI) and so it reset itself back to the default res. Just a guess.

Werd~Glad I could help

They do that sometimes as the previous poster stated the signal was changed and in some cases it's a safety built into the game so you wont have to edit the resolution manually in case there is a conflict with the new signal.
