I would start with that PSU of yours. Crying out loud!

Try another unit, maybe the video card put a lot of stress on that 400W.
do you think the power supply is gone?
What I'd do is; get a new PSU (a good brand name one) and start from there.

From what you said; "heard a fan getting clogged up" sounded most likely that the PSU is gone. IMO. But it could be something else, w/o me seeing the system is hard to tell what could it be, but right now I'm pointing my finger at the PSU.

You should get just for precaution, one of those AT Power Supply and for occasions like this one you should be able to pin-point a proble or test things such as fans.

Or! Maybe someone has the diagram on how to short an ATX psu so that it could start on its own and it if works that way, then it may not be "it".

Later, gotta go watch Conan O'Brien now.
thanks man...i really think your right..now that i think about it! It definitely coulda been the fan that blew out in the psu..i really wanted an ultra x connect 500watt 1 for free after rebates...but thats gone now do you have any suggestions for a power supply for somebody on a budget?

No X-Connect. X-Connect is bad.(I'll kindly ask x-connect supporters not to turn this thread into an x-connect argument. Agree to disagree.)

Get what I've ordered(because the X-finity sucks too):

It's modular by the way, Newegg just doesn't say it.

Sunbeam NUUO 550W is $80, modular, rock solid stable.

I'm also off to watch Conan.

that one looks great man..ill save 4 it..i was thinking about like.an ocz one or something...i thought mines was ok but its horrible lol
Before people pressure you to by something, test your stuff... First off, take the battery out of the mobo, jump the CMOS, unplug the PSU, turn the PSU on and off to discharge it and let it sit for awhile (like 30 minutes). jump CMOS again, put battery in, plug it in and try. It worked for me and I thought I blew out my PSU.
Yeah I would gpo with jori's ideas but if all else fails then yeah I would have to go with the psu also. If it does work you also may want to still look into getting a new psu.
Just be sure to test everything, you have a extra rig you can test stuff in, right?
does it mean anything if the led on the mobo comes on when i switch the psu on? if so i guess its something else...but i just tried your suggestion and i cleared the cmos and still nothing..its been off for about an hour

maybe something like a wire got stuck in the fan and yanked it out of somewhere it should be connected and now it wont power up. Dont go to the PSU straight up, take the side off and make sure all of your switches are plugged in correctly. This has happened to me.
nah uhh im using my moms laptop im 15 on a budget right now so this is my first rig...by the way thank you guys for continuing to help me
wait holon a minute..i skipped a part on joris advice..how do i take the battery out is it the lithium battery?
