Sound Card with 1/4" Line In?

349 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  OrphanShadow
Im looking to record some guitar riffs straight from my guitar amp to my PC. The record output on the amp utilizes a 1/4" jack input.

Basically I was wondering if any mainstream soundcard featured a 1/4" line in, or if I would be better off utilizing a 1/8" Adapter.

adapter, although if you really want the 1/4" plug I think some of Creative's beakout boxes have them. I could be wrong though.

Would I lose sound quality from the Adapter?

Basically, at current Im using a Line 6 ToneportGX for guitar recording, however, the models sound a little synthetic for my liking, and I have a small amount of delay when recording against a drumtrack due to the USB interface.

Will the adapter cause any unwanted latency effects?

I'd say you're better off with the adapter than the break out box. Break out box/ I/O box sucks for recording.
As for latency effects, no clue.
