Comparing two video cards and was wondering which is faster. Normally I would thing the GT is gonna be faster than the GSO but some specs have made me wonder. So im asking for your speculation on the matter. Thnx
Palit 9600 GT 512 With HDMI

http://www.palit.biz/main/vgapro.php?id=663

G94 Core 64 Stream Processors
Core 650 OC 760
Shaders 1625 OC 1900
Mem 900 1000
512 GDDR3
256 bit bus

Compared To

XFX 9600 GSO 1.5 GB Far Cry 2 Edition

Not sure of the core but 96 Stream Processors
Core 580
Shaders 1450
Mem 800
1.5 GB GDDR2
192 bit bus

Main Couple Of Questions
Is The Extra Stream Processors Gonna Make This Card Equal To My 9600 GT?

And Even Though This Card Is Only DDR2 Its Still Gonna Be Faster Than The 7900Gt My Roommate Is Using?

Would It Be A Noticeable Upgrade From The 7900gt
In case it comes up.
Its An EVGA Superclocked 7900gt

Thnx

The GSO would be slower, especially if you ever compared them in SLI. I would also say that yes, both video cards would be noticeably faster than the 7900GT, and would be worth it.

The 9600GT is moderately faster than the 9600GSO. The old 9600GSOs were rebranded 8800GSs, only slightly worse than the 9600GT. Then when they ran out of 8800s they introduced a new card that was slightly weaker than the original GSO. So the GT would be a better choice overall: better performance, less power consumption, runs cooler.

Agreed I have exact model of 9600gt and i have to say im happy with the performance and i dont think the extra stream processors will make up for the ddr2 memory no matter how much you have of it.
Good example (Correct me if im wrong)
There was models of the 8800s that had ddr2 or ddr3 and after benchmarking cards with the exact specs except for the memory type ddr3 boosts 12-15 percent. Which on a midrange card will make a nice difference

The 9600GT will get better frame rates in games, but the GSO is a better folder due to its higher number of SPs.

the DDR2 version will do horrid but if you can find a 768mb DDR3 it can be taken to 2000-2200 mem speed on most of them and negate the memory bottleneck and let those 96 shaders work
