Spybot or AVG

I've been using AVG for a long time, but it's been causing a lot of problems too and I don't think it's worth it anymore. It used to suck up a lot of resources and give the page file error with Steam games, even after I turned off page filing. Since I've uninstalled it there hasn't been any problems with games, but I fell unsafe without it too. I used Spybot before I switched to AVG, and for now I'm using it again since it's not as big a hog as AVG. But I just want to know how it compares. Think spybot can keep a pc as safe as AVG can?

Neither. NOD32. Very fast; light on resources; acts like anti-spyware (I use it to block ads), and has more options than any other AV I've seen.

Why are you comparing a spywarescanner with a virusscanner

But yeah, NOD32.

I think the short answer is no, but I'll leave the full explanation up to somebody who knows how to explain it better than I can. I mean, it's best to have multiple defenses rather than just relying upon only one thing. So, I say get Avast. It's a better anti-virus application than AVG, and it has a smaller system footprint. I've also heard Avast referred to as the best free anti-virus program available.

If you're willing to pay, then shop around for the best price on ESET's NOD32 Antivirus 3.0. It's been called the best pay-for-it anti-virus program available. It also has an extremely small system footprint.

You can also add other applications like Ad-Aware, and Spyware Doctor. The reason for having multiple defenses up is that while one may not catch/recognize something bad, the other will. Not only that, but it's best to pair up an anti-virus program with something such as Ad-Aware, Spyware Doctor, or Spybot if you prefer. Or have all four running. Or have two different AV's going along with these other defenses.

okies, ty guys. I'll give Avast a try. I searched up NOD32, but it looks like it's not free? Unless I'm looking at the wrong thing.

and Acoma_Andy, I don't even know lol, was kinda dumb now that i think about it. But it's nearly 5am and I was just getting so tired and frustrated with stupid AVG
just needed some quick answers

Avast is supreme but I think it's Avast that is mocking my OC...

Avast free FTW, if you like it get the Pro version as you also get the built in script blocking feature with that.

Y'know, I said that NOD32 isn't free. I said it's been called the best pay-for-it anti-virus available, and I totally agree with that.

For script blocking, I use the Firefox extension called NoScript.
It work so well that I never see anything that I don't want to see in Firefox. It's a little bit more than just a simple script blocker.
