Hey guys!

I'm thinking of buying an SSD for my windows 7 installations and 2-3 games (WoW and SC2 mainly) however i'm not that sure what SSD to get?

The ones I have looked at are Ccrucial C300, Intel X-25M, Vertex 2 and Intel 320. Mainly looking at 80GB storage wise. I don't want to overspend on the SSD and thats why I havent placed the Vertex 3 in there.

How much of a perfomance hit does the X-25M have over the other drives? I heard Intel had the most reliable SSDs so far.

Which drive would you reccommend (even ones not listed)

[EDIT] Changed the price up for the SSD. C300 128GB is 170 GBP while the Intel 320 and X-25M are both 130 GBP (80GB though) I am mainly between these 3.

I've had the X-25 for about 2 years now and it's been fantastic for a boot drive really speeds up windows. I only keep windows on it though, I have my games installed on my F3. You might be pushing it with Win7, WoW and SC2 on a 80GB drive. Win7 is what like 25GB alone, and if I remember right.. Wow is a good 30GB (Haven't installed it in years) So that's about 55GB alone and after a format on a 80GB SSD, you have about ~74GB. Which leaves you pushing it if you want SC2 on it too (not sure how big it is)

MMOs are probably one the type of games that does perform (a little) better with a faster drive. Faster world loading at least, but nothing in the FPS dept. I would look into the X-25 for sure though. It serves me good.

Get an OCZ Vertex 3. They're hard to get right now but worth the wait.

EDIT- If you don't want to spend that much, get a Vertex 2, Mushkin Callisto DX or Corsair Force. They're all basically the same.

I just saw the read on a Vertex 3 o_O 550MB/sec thats insane. However its 240 GBP which is way more than im willing to spend.

I did see an Intel ElmCrest though for 220 GBP which is tempting.

I will probably buy the C300 though as gf has approved the extra spending xD

[EDIT] Found the Vertex 3 for 220 now aswell from another vendor xD

I have an 80GB Intel G2 and I can have 4-5 games installed at any one time. Games I play casually from time to time are kept on my 150GB velociraptor. The X-25M is somewhat outdated in today's SSD market, but 80GB has been more than substantial for me.
