stability OR overclock

I really wanna overclock my q6600 but I got a intel dp35dp with no overclocking features at all.. but as most intel boards it's ROCK STABLE I MEAN ROCK STABLE and with 2003 server never any problems at all! Of course the new mobo could be just as stable... but your not always that lucky.

should I give up a crazy stable mobo and go buy a nice overclocker and go hardcore or should i just keep nice stable system? I have a 2nd computer I could turn into overclocker but I just use it has a htpc never really game on it or anything so can't see the point of that. unless I use this stable beast for a htpc and use my 2nd comp as my gaming comp... hmmm my 2nd comp is amd which will need some new parts to make it a real gaming machine.... just don't know...

Definitely go for a 'overclock' motherboard and unleash the true power of your Quad!
you could try software overclocking , just to see if that would work, idk , i have heard good things about the q6600, i would oc it.

I haven't tried software overclocking... I did research other people trying and none had success. Most ended up buggering crap up so I just decided to not even try. I think I will just leave things how they are and maybe oc the video card or something... I kinda wanna start water cooling again and here is no point water cooling a stock q6600 lol

This place is so bad for me... makes me wanna do crazy **** to my computer again... that costs money.. I"M A CHEAP ASS!
It's not hard to get a stable, moderate, OC on the cheap.

Still, that motherboard is going to hinder you.

It will only hinder my overclocking. It's a kick ass mobo if I was running a server or working in a office but I am wanting POWER!

Overclock it. Running a Q6600 at stock is like a crime.
