If a computer is say 8 hours stable with Orthos under XP is it safe to assume that it would be 100% stable within Linux?

You could try running memtestx86 from a live cd and see how that works out... To be honest I haven't had the need to OC since I switched to Linux...

If there is any difference in stability between OS's I would say that Linux is going to be more stable. Stability is more hardware than software related, though, so I think it would be the same
