I bought the hard copy of MW2 but when i got to install it it installs steam and then stops, I tryed opening steam and i get an error that says Registy process already in use. Any ideas how i can get my game to install?

Well for one a lot of games now require steam to run for example when I first got Half Life 2 it installed steam and I thought it was nonsense and now well it's huge. Umm try reinstalling it you should be ok.
Install Steam from the Steam site itself by downloading the installer, then reboot once it's installed.

Then install with the MW2 disks, and you should be good to go.
i tryed downloading it from steams website and still get the same error

EDIT: I tryed 1 last thing, was to run ccleaner and fix the registry errors then tryed to install steam and it worked likea charm. MW2 5 min from being done installed

From Steam:

This issue is caused by a third-party application interfering with the normal operation of Steam - one process which has been identified with this crash is the Tuneup WinStyler Theme Service. Other applications such as BitTorrentDNA have also been confirmed to cause this issue.

Please see the Disabling Background Applications article for instructions on how to disable background applications. If disabling the application does not allow Steam to function correctly, you may want to consider completely uninstalling any applications that you believe may be causing the conflict to test Steam again.

If the issue persists, please see the list of Programs Which Interfere with Steam and Spyware, Adware, and Viruses Interfering with Steam in order to ensure that any programs known to cause issues with Steam are disabled.

Try the above, and see if that solves anything.

Try going into the program files on steam and delete the Clientregistry.blob or something like that. You have to log into steam again. It might work, not saying it will though.

Also, close steam and delete both of these. Usually find that they are in the same place as clientregistry.blob

# Steam.dll
# SteamUI.dll
