Stock HSF or AS5?

with the last 7750 i just got i removed the stock hsf and used as5. im not sure if i want to do this or not with the new one coming in to replace this one that wont pass prime95. is there a big diff between the two? if not id rather just use the stock thermal grease.

AS 5 is better than what comes with a Stock AMD CPU.
im a lil confused isnt hsf stands for heat sink and fan??? but anywho your question about thermal paste if you are not doing any oc then the thermal paste that comes with the heat sink will do

The way this reads, you removed a heatsink and used only as5 instead, then the chip won't pass prime?

PLEASE tell me you used the heatsink, and just replaced the old pastey blob with some as5. If you didn't use the heatsink, it's no wonder you didn't pass prime. I'm amazed your computer didn't pop like a firecracker!

But to answer your question, yes, replace the standard compound with as5.
