you're PSU could be dieing, got a 500W or higher you can try? could also be a CPU running to hot, have you checked all of the fans while it is on?

the cpu is fine trust me
this is some nice w/c it might just be the psu...

no chance that its the mobo?

if its the PSU 100% then what should i get for this build? money is tight :/

hey TrueNoob, I cant find the first post you mentioned about your computer problem.

I was going through some nasty computer problems recently as well until i went through testing every piece of hardware i have inside my computer.

I'm assuming once you OC your computer it restarts, crashes or freezes? What are you OC'ing before it crashes and are you able to OC anything individually without a crash?
If you are able to bump the voltage on any 1 item without a crash then you can rule out your PS... 99.99%.

If its one specific item such as CPU only or Memory only then chances are its your Mobo. For the CPU, it could be a number of things usually the voltage regulator. If its the memory then it could be the memory controller, or bad rails.

Why i bring these things up is because for the past month i couldn't OC my Ram and sometimes couldnt get a stable system at stock settings. I would lock up or freeze with sound looping in or it would just shut down, it made no sense. Thats why i was posting here as stable, not stable, stable ect.. I tested the memory with memtest individually on each rail and still no errors. Hours of tech support with EVGA and corsair.

I had a similar problem when i first built this computer but thought it was just me and i had something messed up that i was overlooking. EVGa mentioned that i might of had a bad rail at the time but i was reluctant to accept the board being a problem, nothing worse then pulling water blocks off a clean rebuild. One day i was able to get it stable at stock settings minus my CPU which was at 3.8 so i just left it as is.. thinking it was my PS which was 2 years old, i exchanged my PS to CoolerMax and the replaced it for free and gave me the new 8 pin and 6 pin combo so that i could SLI properly.

after installing my new PS i was having the same problem over and over which was driving me nuts so after testing everything i did a solid 2 days worth of testing my memory. Turns out that i would get my errors when using dual channel in rails 0 and 2 but rails 1 and 3 seem to be ok which im in now. Again i tested every rail individually with each stick and no errors came up so that ruled out the ram. I use rail 1 and 3 and i can keep a stable system with stock settings. After all this testing it could mean one thing. the memory controller on the board is bad and i had to replace it. i just received my new board from EVGA and it was a board that was sent back to them from another consumer.I open the package and the heat pipe falls apart.. wonderful.

Again i call them up and they tell me that when we RMA that they re-certify the returned hardware and send it out unless requested by the consumer which still need Autho form management to release a new box.

So now im waiting again for my new board while sitting on 3 dis functional mobo to conclude my testing which i feel very confident about will work

in the meantime i received the same PS but its upgraded to run SLI with 8pin and 6pin combo instead of the original 6pin x4.

if you had any of these problems i mentioned then chances are its the board
and replacing it will solve the problem.

Btw, if you change you PS then you shouldn't go any lower then 800 or imo, 850. 850 will give you room to work with or add on without and worries. CoolerMax gives you a 5 year warranty regardless the issues. If something comes out with additional connectors then they replace the PS with no questions asked.

Hopefully the testing i did was something that you havent tried yet and you can now narrow it down.

PS. replacing the Mobo is the worst thing we want to go through especaily when you have water blocks on and wires tucked away neatly so good luck and let me know how it went.

Again, good luck and hoped this helped,

hecken

golden, seems like my problem. when i increase voltage on ram i run stable just fine, well when i put ram to its factory setting :/ but i cant run my 3.6 anymore... GTL ref might have something to do with my issue. I am also reluctant to believe its my board, but it may just be.,

alright, is it at all possible that a loose graphics card would cause my pc to shut off?

it wouldnt turn off your pc. your screen yes but not the computer itself. I suggest checking your 24 pin to make sure its in correctly as well as the cpu pin.

i would go with a 750. at full load of my system it ruffly uses 634w.
i like my psu using about 80% of its capability. the more you stress the psu the quicker it will die on you.
