I don't see a lot of guides about tools/software used to verify problems with a hard drive (beyond that of chkdsk and such). Could a guide be made for this?

What is the best benchmark suite for testing mechanical and solid-state drives? I want one program that can do all the useful tests and have results that are compatible for HDD and SSDs. For example in Samgsung's Magician software, SSDs score like x150 higher IOPS compared to HDDs. SSDs are fast but they are not x100+ faster than HDDs in any type of loading situation, ever. So I think the number is very misleading.
