Strange overclocking results PLEASE HELP!!

I'm overclocking my intel e8200 and I am at 3.4 ghz now.

But when I start cpu-z or occt it shows for half a second 3.4 ghz and then after the half second it shows 2.5 ghz.... And I tested it for 2 hours and it is stable... :S:swearing:

Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? Is it really producing 3.4 ghz or is it producing 2.5

I would really appreciate a helping hand here!!

Speedstep must be still turned on in bios settings, check if you disabled it. Also make sure you disabled eist and spread spectrum.

Turn your C1E off in your BIOS settings. Your computer is going into power saver mode by reducing the multi, but it doesn't work since you've manually set your voltages.

well, I'm just one very big noob, I can't find C1E (sorry:S) and I just play with the fsb and nothing else, but can you tell what C1E is called on a Asus P5Q PRO?? I have all the settings on auto, except fsb ratio.

Thanx sofar!!!

C1E isn't in the same menu list as the voltages and what not. Go one menu to the right, go through that one and it will be in that tree of menus.
Thanx for all the help sofar, but I've disabled C1E and I still have the problem, only now it changes every second, it swaps between 2.5 and 3.4 AGAIN.... and I still don't know what to do... :S

thanx!
hmm weird, disabling C1E does it for me I thought.. I should tell you it doesn't really matter though, when the cpu usage goes up (like stress testing/gaming etc) the processor speed will go back up to 3.4Ghz

Disable EIST as well, it throttles the CPU depending on temps.
