It will offer more "punch" as it is powered and has an adjustable low pass so you can tune it to your setup/liking.
I would say go for it.

Would personally not buy a sub for any less than 165ish.
At that range you can start looking at Dayton and BIC America
The lower end Dayton subs used to be $80, $100 and $120 for the 8", 10", and 12". I'm just saying.Originally Posted by Simca;13044539

logitek computer surround systems work just fine been using and recommending them for years.
IMO, a closed sub is a waste of a subwoofer driver. Yes, you get a more accurate sound in the cost of max SPL and sub-bass extension. A sub driver has a lot of excursion, the air has to move somewhere, and not stay in the enclosure. Some might disagree with me, but this is purely my opinion.Originally Posted by aksthem1;13050311

Now the sub you choose depends on what you listen too. A closed sub would be a lot better for music. While a ported one would be better for music and games.
only good things i saw are a pair of yamaha studio monitors for 700$ a pair and a pair of 150$ mackie studio monitors. couldnt find good subs except for these..Originally Posted by BillOhio;13056037

OP: If you're getting the D1080MKII 08, do not buy the Polk sub. That is a waste-of-money subwoofer. Get this http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-635 or this http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=303-430
