Successful i7 920 (4GHZ) and HD5970 (850/1200) Overclock

Well I finally got my CPU stable, and my GPU didn't take much time at all. I had no issues overclocking my 5970, even under auto fan settings. GPU temps are fine in Furmark and never break 90C. CPU Temps are about 73C under LinX, 68C under Prime95, and 58C in Crysis.

I did have to lower my RAM down to DDR3 1524 6-6-6-18-72, so not much speed loss over DDR3 2000 8-8-8-21-88.

Benchmarks!

At least 3Dmark06 and Vantage

Pretty sick.. Still waiting on my HD5970 order to ship, if ever.. Only got my C0 to 3.85GHz w/HT at 1.320vCore so far, but i didn't tweak PLL, ICH/IOH yet, so I may copy some of your settings and see if I can squeak a little more out. I see you disabled VT, any particular reason? Great setup btw!

I don't use it, so I just disable it. It shouldn't matter either way, I don't believe it affects overclocks.

I've been holding off on default setting benchmarks until Catalyst 8.12. I will tell you this though. I scored 21,834 in 3Dmark06 at 2560x1600, 4x SSAA, 16x AF and vsync ON.

nice build. i am envious of your gpu. i can't find one anywhere (surprise surprise lol).

just curious, but did you try lowering your multiplier to 19 and increasing your bclk? i originally had 21, and it was less stable for me. went to 19, and it's all butter now.

I never tried 19. 20 kept failing LinX after about 30 passes (A lot higher CPU Voltage than I have now as well). I went with 21 because 190 BLCK allowed me to put my RAM at DDR3 1524 with 6-6-6-18-72 timings. With 19 my ram was around 1680, making me go to 7-7-7-21-88.

1534 6-6-6-18-72 seems faster than 1680 7-7-7-21-88 and puts less stress on the motherboard. I had to put 1.43V on QPI/DRAM at those speeds, higher than I wanted too.

Nice OC man. One tip, I would raise you BCLK to 191. I have the REII as well and it seems to really like odd multipliers with odd BCLKs. Just a suggestion, but either way it looks good. I unfortunately have to RMA my REII, but wish you the best of luck!

I would, but then I'd feel the need to stress test again. It's stable at these settings, and the speed increase of 1 BCLK will never be noticable.
