I need to use the sudo command but I don't recall having a password. Is there any way to find out what it is? or anything?

Thanks!!!

Aren't you required to have a pw whether you use autologin or not?

I think maybe you can reset passwords using the reinstall disk. That might just be firmware password or whatever that is; I'm not 100% sure.

Yea what this guy said, you can get rid of the password from a bootable Mac CD, I did that on my iMac because I got it from the dump FULLY WORKING, lol

And it had some other user on it with a pw so i got rid of it

There may be a Admins password, but the user accounts may not have one

So the first time my friend fired up her MAC, it asked for registration and stuff is when they also asked her to make a password?

Only thing to do now is to try to remember the password or get a bootable MAC CD?

Did the CD come with the laptop or does she have to make one?

Should be, yeah.

I guess so; I don't know any other way to bypass a password without hacks/cracks.

All macs come with the dual-layer installation DVDs.

Thanks for the answers. I have never owned a MAC before so if I put in the DVD will I erase all the data on the mac or will it give me options like change/reset password?

Pop in the DVD, hold C when you turn it on (or hold Alt and choose to boot from the optical drive), and then it'll load up the installer.

In the installer, up at the Menu Bar there should be "Utilities." Under "Utilities" should be some sort of password reset utility or something like that. I've never worked with it, so I can't tell you the specifics.

***********Just watch out for yourself in case it says it's going to wipe data or cancel access to accounts or something like that****************

I recommend you make a backup disk image with Carbon Copy Cloner. I wrote a guide on it sometime last year:
