Suggest a case for modding/ water coolin

Hi all,

Painting my gf's case is really making me want to do more case modding. Need suggestions for a case for a mod I'm thinking about... here are the requirements:

1) Must be well-constructed and sturdy
2) Must be very water friendly... need room to mount a res and triple rad, top or front would be ideal.
3) Must be relatively easy to take apart. I think I'll want to paint the interior so
4) Full tower case, not mid or mini tower

Windows are a plus, but not required as I can always do them myself with little trouble.

I think I'm going to go for either a super sleek black or imola orange mirror finish on this one.

I thought about it, but isn't it all one big hunk of metal? Seems like that would be hard to mod... will look into it though.

Also is there an adapter for triple rads or something? Looks like the stock accomodates just double.

Rocketfish if you can find one. Otherwise just look at full tower lian-li cases on newegg and craigslist. You can find some cheap cases on craigslist sometimes.

Or look for a old full tower beige case. They are excellent for modding and have lots of potential.
Antec 1200 triple rad would fit up front very nicely. Might be my next case. Of course i was able to fit a triple rad in the 300

There is a lot of full towers that fit your description. How much are you wanting to spend?

antec 1200 or CM cosmos 1000 for cheapy, or some expensive lian li or silverstone

Triple rad at the bottom. Possible to also fit a quad with a squeeze

Thanks for the tips guys, keep them coming. So far I really like the TJ-07 as a case for my mod. Do you have any pics of exactly how that rad/water cooling is mounted? One thing I don't like about my current setup is that my pump and reservoir are just sitting in a drive bay, but not really mounted to anything.
The pump is actually down below, behind the radiator and next to the PSU. I'll get some more pictures.
Already have a Cosmos S lol. I actually don't think it would be that great for a new mod because it's kind of flimsy (the metal is REALLY thin in some parts) and because it doesn't have the type of space I'm talking about. Also I find the cable management to be a complete pain in the behind.

I really like the TJ-07 because of that bottom compartment where I can hide everything. Also the TJ-07 is rivet free, which means I can take it apart completely and put it back together. Only thing that bothers me is that I'm not water cooling my graphics cards, so I think I need something with better air cooling capacity.

Is there anything more similar to the TJ-07 out there?

I like.... only thing is that it's close enough to the TJ-07 that I would pick the TJ instead because of its rivet free design.

Rocket Fish gets another vote for W/C and Mod friendly

There are sveral members here that have done some excellent W/C mods with them!
There are also several members here that have unmolested BNiB ones "just sitting"!
Throw a post up in the wanted section...see if you get any joy.. can't hurt right?
Much cheaper than a "proper" Lian-Li"

Cheers & GL

Thanks, but reminds me too much of my fridge...
I think TJ-07 is the winner so far but air cooling my GPUs in that case really scares me. Can anyone attest to the GPU air-cooling power of this otherwise awesome case?

Why do you not want to watercool your graphics card?

Well I would have to get a new rad, at least a double. Don't know where I would put that.. would it fit down bottom? Also you've got the added expense of the rad and waterblocks. And finally, I figured of all things GPUs would be swapped out most often so I like to keep them easy to remove, if necessary. I also don't want to get water blocks for my GTX280s, and then have them become obsolete and be stuck with over $100 in obsolete cooling equipment.

I saw a cool mod somewhere where a guy took 2 of the antec 900 drive cages and used them up front to create 2 120mm intake fans. Also creates a nice place to store HDDs. Not a bad idea, except it would eliminate one of my optical drives, and I sure do like my dual optical drives.

EDIT - I also don't understand this: how is the rad SECURED at the bottom of the case. I know there's enough room to just plop it in, but are there some holding screws through the bottom or something else that it can attach to? Or do I have to come up with some DIY mounting technique?
