I wanna upgrade from my onboard and I'm wondering what to get. I can only get Asus or Creative in Poland.

I'm thinking of getting a Xonar D1, it only costs $80. Any good?

The D1/DX are very good cards.

Better than most of Creative's offerings, you should get that.

The difference between the D2 and D2x is that one is PCI, the other is PCI-Ex1.

Not sure if the same applies to the d1 series.

One is PCI, one is PCI-E x1.

Get the PCI one, it'll have a slightly lower latency.

they're the same card except the D1 is PCI and the DX is PCI-e. So, the D1 doesnt need external power and the Dx needs the floppy power from you're PSU.

Ive had my Dx for over a year and still love it, sounds hundred times better than on board.

Its weird, i cant imagine a better sound than onboard. Sounds weird, but you wonder if its possible to get better sound. But i look forward to my Xonar D2 for Christmas!
