Hey all, I picked up Super Mario Galaxy 2 for the Dolphin emulator recently. Most of you who have tried to play it, know that getting the controls to work is a pain. I searched the internet and didn't see any good configs, so I thought I would share mine.


Here is an image giving a basic overview of the controls.

How to Install

  1. Download ini file from here
  2. Navigate to C:\Documents\Dolphin Emulator\Config\Profiles\Wiimote
  3. Place SMG2 XBC.ini in the Wiimote folder
  4. Open Dolphin and click on the Wiimote icon in the top tray
  5. Under the Wiimote 1 drop down menu, select "Emulated Wiimote" and press the Configure button

    Make sure your controller is connected for the next steps!
  6. Under the Device drop down menu select your connected controller of choice. XInput/0/Gamepad is the first controller, XInput/1/Gamepad is the second, and so on.
  7. Under the Profile drop down menu, select SMG2 XBC and press Load

    The window should look like this:

  8. Click OK at the bottom of the config window
  9. Click OK at the bottom of the other config window

A few notes about the controls

  • Menu navigation is a bit tricky, but you get used to it.
  • Moving hides the IR Cursor.
  • Your controller must be connected before you start the game.

Good evening,

I know this is a really old thread but I'm unable to find any real information about my question aside from this posting.

I've had a working config for Mario Galaxy 2 for awhile now, but just recently started playing again. I came across the level called Silver Chomp Challenge or something, where you are on the ball. My problem is that the ball requires the Wii remote motion for turning left and right, as well as keeping it pointed upward or something. I had my mouse doing all the work for the pointer and motions, but I can't successfully maneuver the ball to beat the level. What did you do for that kind of setup?
