SuperPi

so I've been reading about SuperPi, I've never ran it before. So to my understanding SuperPi is a benchmarking tool to see if your CPU and RAM are somewhat stable? and if it isn't when running 1m or 32m you will get an error correct? I just ran it a couple minutes ago on 1m and my score was 20.460s/1mb. No errors

Does that mean my ram timings are okay and the speed is okay along with my cpu speed? It's stock right now

SuperPi is used to messure the time taken of Pi calculations which are used when overclocking.

It is widely used to see the performance gains of overclocking as the times of a 1m calculation are recorded at stock values and at overclocked values.

In theory they do test whether the chip is stable but only with 32m calculation which is very intensive on the CPU.

If you want to check whether the components of the PC are stable you can use Prime95

AFAIK SuperPi is mostly used to test the speed of your processor

I myself got about 16 seconds

IMO SuperPi 1M is just for Benching, really. The higher your clock, the faster your time. I suppose that the 32M could be to test for stability, but I have never used it.

OCCT, Linpak, Prime95, and others are best to use for testing stability of an overclock.

As for your score, I would hope that your stock set up is stable and 20s is a decent 1M time for an AMD, I guess.

My best 1M time was ~10.32s at 4.6GHz.

were you using vista or 7 because thats pretty slow for the clock.

not bad at all especially for a core 2 duo, there are plenty of tips to optimize superpi runs on this forums. we've used it for benchmarking contests too, its an excellent program that really shows a CPU's true speed down to milliseocnds

I believe my best is like 8.720 @ 4.7ghz ..?
