Hi guys, Was going to swap my GA-EG45M-UD2H core 2 duo rig for my UD3R
Can i just hot swap without re-installing windows?

Well that is a big slap in the face
.
I thought going from a gigabyte board to another gigabyte board was fine.
But so far it looks like a new install is on hand

It's the chipset that makes the difference. Intel to Intel usually works.

The chipsets are the same, so I don't see why a total reinstall would be necessary. You might have to re-activate Windows though, since the licensing mechanism is tied to the motherboard.

Theoretically you shouldn't need to do a reinstall but I have always done one when I changed motherboards just because.

You sure? I've switched my motherboard 3 times while on XP and the only thing I had to reinstall was drivers

ive never had luck with xp swaping boards. , never had a problem with vista and windows 7

No, i have confirmed this, now running my i7 rig, all i had to do was install drivers
