Swiftech 240 rad vs MCR220 vs MCR320

First off, I'd like to apologize to those who may remember all the harsh things I said earlier this week in a thread that I'm extremely embarrassed by. I was frustrated, angry and clearly not in the right mind. For that, I apologize. If you're wondering, I got everything worked out and I've learned my lesson.

At any rate, I just have one small question.

I have a Swiftech 240 rad on its way to me, along with all this stuff:

Swiftech Apogee GTZ
2 medium speed Yate Loons
Danger Den Acetal Fillport
D5 MCP 655 Pump
UV Dye
PT Nuke

And this is what I have ordered from Petras:

10 Danger Den "Fat Boy" Fittings (G1/4" Thread 1/2" OD)
15 ft. 7/16" ID MasterKleer PVC Tubing
Petras "Gel Stuff" Anti Absorption Gel Pad
15 "Herbie Clips"
Swiftech MCRES Micro v2 Reservoir

How does the 240Rad perform against the MCR220 as far as singe loops go?

Should I just opt for the MCR320?

Thanks

The mcr 220 is a 240 rad.

I can't help you regarding the mcr320, but i have 2 mcr220's in a single loop with a cpu & gpu block. I'm using the laying mcp355 with petrastop with an apogee cpu block & mcw60 gpu block. Cpu @ 4ghz & gpu never go above 40.

If you have space issues opt for the mcr220 stackable that swiftech will be releasing anytime soon. If not, just add the mcr320 to your curretn loop & when you have more money get another pump for the mcr220 & add your gpu to the loop.

thanks for the help I was confused about the MCR220 and 240.

I thought they were different. So they are the same rad?

I will have no spacing issues with any rads, since I can fit a triple rad in my case easily. Thanks for your help +rep

..., Thanks Wadkiller, I wasn't sure what a Swiftech 240 rad was. If the OP means the MCR220 I think it's a good rad. I've never had any triple rad (360). ATM I have 2x MCR220's, 2x MCP350's (stock tops) and 2x Yate Loon HS fans pulling controlled by a Sunbeam fan controller in external cases. They are cooling 2x Q6600's at stock. Both quads have Apogee GT's and one quad has a MCW60-R WB cooling a eVGA 8800GS. The fact both rads are on the window sill my GPU temp hardly ever get above 30c and my CPU temps stays about 30c also at their hottest cores . The CPU temps are read by RealTemp v3.0 and the GPU temp is read by the Precision program. My ambient temp is about 20c, which is pretty irrelevant because the fresh air is ducted from the outside. According to Google the outside temps are between 43f and 51f. My chips temps are taken with the [email protected] GPU2 client on core #3 and the WCG clients on cores #0, #1, #2. (I ain't gots no non load temps
)

They are the same size as in they both take two vertical 120mm fans. I myself opted for the 320 because i didnt have room in my case for TWO 240s. I read from one of the threads that it doesnt change much (maybe 1C or 2C) if you have one 320 instead of TWO 240s.

I figure the 320 is less of a hassle, can be mounted to the back of a case and requires less tubes and clamps

Yes they are one & the same. Swiftech got 3 rads, the mcr120/220/320, with 2 variations each. One with & one without a res.

TBH, my mcr220's are performing very good, but if you've got the money, get a GTX360 if your case can fit one. That will be ample cooling for a CPU & gpu in a single loop.

I have to tell you, i'm NOT an expert in watercooling. There's other people here thats always keen to help & have alot more knowledge/experience than me.
