CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3700+ "San Deigo Core"

Motherboard: ABIT Fatal1ty A8N SLI nForce4

Case: Antec Super Lanboy

Videocard: XpertVision AT Radeon X800 (core 392Mhz) 256MB DDR3

Power Supply: Antec TrueBlue 480W ATX - Blue Led Fans

Hard Drive: Seagate 250GB 7200 RPM 8MB

Not quite sure on what RAM to go for, something not too expensive.

So what do you guys think? Any good? Any changes i can make to save money, i have been doing some research and this is the best i have come up with, but i've blown my budget by a little bit but thats ok i guess

I want to overclock this PC a little too so are these parts ok for overclocking (with cooling of course) and i will be using machine for gaming mainly.

Thanks for viewing

IMO, you're completely wasting your money on that Fatal1ty motherboard for 2 reasons. First, why buy an SLI motherboard if you're buying an ATI video card? Secondly, read this about it's performance. I suggest you buy a less expensive motherboard and spend the savings on a faster video card.

Also, tell us what prices you're getting and we might be able to point you towards a better place to purchase from.

sccr is absolutely correct on his remarks about your motherboard. dont get an sli board if you want an ati vid card, and the video card isnt that great anyway.

No, no nononononono, the Fatal1ty motherboard is a HUGE waste of money.
Go with a DFI NF4 Ultra, it's a lot cheaper, and it OCs better. Also, that x800 just won't cut it when it comes to performance these days. I would go with a 7800 GT, best card for the money spent ATM.

Okay so heres a revised system...

System - Beta 2

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3700+ "San Deigo Core" $279.22

Motherboard: DFI Lanparty UT nF4 Ultra D Motherboard $164.82

Memory: G.Skill 1GB PC3200 2x512MB DDR CAS 2.5-3-3-6 $112.14

Case: Antec Super Lanboy $97.84

Videocard: XpertVision Geforce 7800GT 256MB 256bit DDR3 $390.61

Power Supply: Antec TrueBlue 480W ATX - Blue Led Fans $113.65

Hard Drive: Seagate 250GB 7200 RPM 8MB FREE

TOTAL: $1158.28

If SLI would be better i could go for 2x XpertVision 6600GT 128mb which would cost $326.64

And a DFI UT SLI-D Board which is $206.22

Which would change the total to:

Total: $1135.70

What are your opinions?

Thanks again.

You can save a little money, if you can find one in Australia, by buying an Opteron 146/148 instead of the San Diego 3700. They have the same core, and the Opterons out-overclock the desktop San Diego with ease. I have 2.7GHz on stock Vcore, people with 148s have 2.8GHz on stock Vcore

Does the Antec TrueBlue have a PCI-E connector? I think its an old PSU so it might not have, unless its a revised version. If it doesn't, I'd recommend getting a PSU that does have a PCI-E power connector, it frees up 2 molexes for you.

looking good now, except you could save on an OPTERON instead of the SD, and getting something other than seagate, a waste IMO... much like plextor. Like the ram, but stick with a 2 stick config, getting 4 sticks to run good is just a hassle. You might be able to get a cheaper 7800 GT??? and with all those saved nickels get some low end watercooling in there
