Sapphire comes up with 'second edition' Raden HD 5770

Like a good add-in board partner Sapphire has rushed to embrace the new Radeon HD 5770 reference design and introduce a card that's based on it. This 'New Edition' model has a different cooler but other than that it doesn't come with any major changes/updates.

Seen below, Sapphire's card has a 850 MHz-clocked GPU with 800 Stream Processors, a 128-bit memory interface, 1GB of GDDR5 VRAM @ 4800 MHz, DirectX 11 and CrossFireX support, as well as dual-DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs.

Weird... I suppose this'll help to differentiate between the mid-range and the high-end cards.

Seems like all manufacturers are starting to use this cooler. Considering the small amount of heat released by this chip I'm sure they work perfectly fine. The release style cooler does a great job of keeping the ram cool as well though. This won't.
Sweet mother of all that's holy that's an ugly card. Worse still its totally pointless and a somewhat low-brow attempt at differentiating their product from the dozens of other point for point reference design 5770's.

One thing I really appreciate about EVGA (on NV's side) is their mature, elegant, black piano finish coolers sans any poorly drawn CG girls or dragons or armored frogs. I really wish there was an ATI partner that would focus on giving us that level of aesthetic polish across their entire line (This isn't to say there aren't good looking ATI Cards, or that it even really matters).

I prefer the original design. I don't like blowing hot air into my case, for the fan to use as intake to make it even hotter.

Unfortunately I have a HIS version because that's all that was in stock when I ordered

EEEWWW!!!.. allthough i quite like it, by the look of it, it seems that it will vent some of the air at the back, if the whole thing was mettalic ill remove the stickers and let it shine,

tbf, i think someone can easily mod these and make there own custom "chassis" thing

I don't see the point, just stuck a useless and ugly cooler on it? Unless it's cheaper or more efficent it's a waste of time
They're all going this way, because it's cheaper.
You can alrerady see the pricing stratification at the e-tailers.
Ugh, I am beyond disappointed that these V2 coolers will be replacing all the reference ones from launch. No cooling on the memory, don't exhaust, and (IMO) down-right fugly.

Plus if you have a V1 and need to RMA you're likely getting a V2 replacement :/
Great what happened to the 4 month 4month 4month rule, 1st 4 months they iron out the bugs, second 4 months it's prime real estate last 4 months it's cheap and nasty and made of cheap poop.

looks like they skipped the prime real estate part lol, so that means the batmobile is sort of becoming a collectors item.
I may as well suck it up, I'm going to water for cooling next year I thought I could save a few bob on ramsinks because the batmobile one had a built in ram heat spreader.
I don't get why they did this cost cutting thing again. The issue is waffer availability not cost of end product.
This cooler is more effective, but ugly as hell, I liked the bat mobile look, this egg look is gross. Cmon its not easter time.
