Team Fortress 2 Stress Test

Hey guys, I found this earlier on the Steams Forums.

Basically a demo file of a 32 player server, with everyone having unlimited ammo, constantly firing their weapons, really stresses out your pc, good way to see and see how much the multi-core patch helps you

To use it, download the demo file and extract it and place it in steam\\steamapps\\your account name\\Team Fortress 2\\TF folder

First run the demo without the mutli-core patch, then with it. To enable multi-core go to Options > Video > Advanced > Multi-Core

Open TF2 and open the console and type "net_graph 1" to see your fps

Then "playdemo stress_test"

Here is the demo file.

Thanks to Ramzy on Steams forum's for doing this.

It's worth it in my opinion.

crap, even with the multi-core enabled im getting like 20 fps.
I just tested it out using the "timedemo" command. The results are saved in "sourcebench.csv", for me at least.

Code:

Code:

You guys arent doing proper tests
. I did some tests recording with rivatuner to show the real min FPS that i was getting. The first screen shot includes:

First line marker is multicore disabled with i7 920 at stock HT OFF. lowest minimum FPS marked.

Second line marker is multicore enabled with i7 920 at stock with HT OFF. lowest minimum fps marked.

And the second screen shot includes:

Multicore enable with i7 920 stock with HT enabled as well.... unfortunately HT sucks. Gotta love the 20-30% GPU usage
. Thanks for the test, +rep.

Well it doesn't take a genius to look at the net_graph command to see the increase in FPS with multicore enabed Auld
. But your method does provide the minimum FPS in each case.

Yup it will greatly increase the performance of a dual core as well, TF2 without the multicore support only uses 1 core. The old command to force multicore support was mat_queue_mode 2 but it was very unstable and caused the game to crash for me. This new update hasnt crashed me yet.

Ooh nice. So is the option already implemented in the game or what?

when I type in playdemo stress_test I get

COM_CheckGameDirectory: game directories don't match (hl2 / tf)
Did you put the stress_test demofile into your tf folder?
