Hey guys,

I replaced my original G9x mouse feet with a cheap replacement I found on eBay (G600 replacement shown in the link because he's not currently selling G9x replacements) and despite the cheap price these are a lot smoother than the original. I'm currently using a SteelSeries 4HD mouse pad and there's almost no scratchiness whatsoever. I'm looking to purchase a similar type to what's used in that eBay link but in bulk teflon tape (or other?) form. Do you guys know what type of teflon tape would yield similar results? I'm hoping I can save money by replacing my mouse feet this way.

CS Hyde PTFE Mouse Tape, Tan Color, 0.5" x 5 yds $6.68+shipping for 5 yards of teflon tape. I've got a roll of this I bought a year ago and still have plenty left. It does need replacing about once a month as it is not as durable as actual replacement mouse feet.

+rep, thanks for the reply. That type of teflon tape is a specialty product specifically for mouse feet. I'm curious if there's a generic teflon tape that's exactly the same thing but can be bought at a lower price. Is the tape you linked to thick enough?

I paid all of $10 for my mouse feet shipped for my deathadder. It comes with two sets in a pack, and I used mouse feet on my original deathadder 1800dpi mouse for 2 years without replacing them.

I'd say just go for that. They're buttery smooth

The tape I linked is actually quite thin. Adhesive backed teflon sheeting can be found online in thicknesses of 1/32" or 1/16" but is quite expensive.

I was looking at the CShyde ptfe

https://www.amazon.com/CS-Hyde-Conformable-Silicone-Adhesive/dp/B000FMUPBM/ref=sr_1_sc_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1514688996&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=cshyde+ptfe

but maybe there are better alternatives.
I use the same thing but only 1" wide. I find it easier to use when applying the tape to the feet of my mouses (mice? meeses?). It wears a lot longer than the stuff the same company sells as mouse tape and is every bit as slick. It's a bit on the expensive side but I'm old enough, one roll will last me the rest of my life (and then some).

I like to use el cheapo Allsop hard plastic mouse pads. I clean the mouse pad every so often with good old fashioned furniture polish. It really makes the mouse glide over the surface and the pads are cheap enough to throw away when they wear out once or twice a year (disclaimer; I'm not a gamer).

Ty Lady, I think I am going to give it a try to the wider version.

I do not use hard mats, but for me it's clearly noticeable that even on cloth mousepads the feet of the mouse are much slower with time that the very same mouse new, so I want to recover that floating sensation and this looks like can make it happen at a much lower price than buying hyperglides or some **** that do the same for 40x the price.

Why? It goes on the underside of the mouse where you normally wouldn't see it. When I install it on my mice, I use scissors to trim off any overhang that would run up the sides of the mouse and be visible while using the mouse. I always cut off and oversized piece from the roll so I have a part of the tape I can hold in my fingers while positioning the uncut portion onto the mouse skates (aka feet), then trim away the touched portion that's left overhanging the mouse after covering the skates. I also wipe down the skates and bottom of the mouse with a 70% isopropyl alcohol pad (like the ones used to prep skin for an injection; they are cheap at most drug stores and handy for small cleaning jobs as well as disinfecting small wounds) to ensure the tape doesn't start to peel later.
