[TF]Mininova Traffic Plummets After Going ‘Legal’

There is no doubt that Dutch anti-piracy outfit BREIN will be proud of their accomplishment, but aside from ruining Mininova's business it will not have a significant impact on the overall volume of BitTorrent traffic. As always, new sites emerge by the dozens as old ones are shut down and users quickly adapt to the new situation.

A network engineer at a major Aussie ISP has confirmed that Mininova's partial shutdown has had no noticeable effect on traffic volumes. "I didn't notice any reduction in [torrent] traffic when The Pirate Bay went down. It's hard to see how there'd be any significant change from Mininova's withdrawal."

All that work & legal battles did absolutely nothing. lol

Good.

Maybe one day they will realize it's impossible to stop if they continue this way.

Note: I'm not saying piracy is good, but the way people are trying to stop it isn't working.

As long as there ARE torrent trackers out there, torrent traffic is going nowhere.

I don't understand the whole Pirate Bay thing. Everyone always says it's been shut down and that it doesn't work. I just went there yesterday and it worked just fine.
i used to look to mininova for back ups and wallpaper, even tv-shows if i couldnt record it or missed it. oh and i shared on it too, like back up files between me and my bro! hella useful compared to just uploading and downloading, its like file share at a much faster speed
Of course there is no reduction. Courts don't understand what these sites do. They don't provede content, they are like a phonebook.

If you destroy the best phonebook, everyone will still make calls, they will just use a less good phonebook and be pissed off.

Going after torrent sites is pointless..

The servers went down for a while not long ago.

Fixed, and yes i do believe that, what the torrent sites are doing is completely legal, how ever if a user decides to use it to host copyrighted content, its not the fault of the torrent site, it only hosts the torrent files that contain no copyrighted information

Just look at the traffic plummet now that there are only legal torrents. Not like this is telling us something new.

Anyway, TPB no longer hosts torrents, it just uses magnet links if I am correct.

irc bots might have some of those files prob...
I was trying to dl some tv shows and i always used mininova but nothing and did not know they are legal now.
They'll always be alternatives to torrent sites anyway. Some others will get a big boost in traffic and users.
