I can now finally open my Nikon D40X RAW's in Photoshop CS4, CS3 wouldn't and still wouldn't after installing the codec.
Now to find something to take pics of on my last day off for the week.

Did you download and install Adobe Camera Raw? It should work fine with CS3.

Well, you have CS4 working, so I guess it's a moot point now, but if you manually put the .8Bx file into the plugins folder it should work.

For post processing photos, Elements or Lightroom are just as good. The full CS versions are more for advanced graphic design, overkill if you're just adjusting levels and sharpening.

I use CS3 to resize my photos and that's about it

I got it so cheap through school I couldn't say no.

Nope, I use GIMP, Bibble and Free Photo Viewer, and Fast Image Resize.

Free Photo Viewer so I can see thumbnails of the raw files, Bibble for image processing/conversion, GIMP for editing.

Well, I will be using bibble when I get the cash to buy it. Works nicely and rather intuitively for me.
