hey all,

after a while of messing around with my temp.construction i thought it was about time i started modding it again...
it's too bulky, and there is way too much unused space.
so...out with all the nuts and bolts, and in with the saw

this is how it started out,

this is all there is in it....

2x HD3850 + the acrylic plates

dual PSU's

The Commando with E6750 with T.R.U.E.120

ideas so far, the height is going way down...at least 15cm

dual PSU's in the bottom, on top of that a smal compartiment for the HDD and DVD r-w, on top of that...the mobo

ow yeah... it's gonna be cool

Edit: The case is now from scratch, all wood is dumped, it's now gonna be aluminium and plexi

Edit 2 : If the pics aren't loading it's because i'm uploading them again to a bit smaller size

well here is a little "update"

it's how my "folder" is laying around the house...
next to me...by my chair...on the ground to be exact

might change the place to my desk once it's all finished though...cats love spinning fans

so...enjoy...pics with flash and without flash.

Edit: for The Bench itself...i'm thinking about high gloss black, or maybe add some colored acrylic to the wood so i has a nice finish...

hey all, it's time for another update (not that anyone is reading this
)

the motherboard tray is ready

this is gonna hold the dvd-rw and the hdd and create a "wall" so you can't see the cables from the psu's (don't worry...it'll all make sense in a while
)

and here is how the dvd and hdd are gonna be placed on the base plate.

i'll get back to the saw and workbench in a while...gotta make me some röti first

see ya!

change of plans...

the base plate is gonna be aluminium and there are 2 aluminium plates comes on the sides to hold it all up, for extra support the aluminium plate that holds the hdd and dvd are in the front.
hopefully that'll be enough too keep it all up, it'll all be held together with rivets, and to finish it all...it'll get acrylic all around

and another update

all aluminium plates are measured, drawn, and measured again, so tomorrow i can saw my arm off

and because i wanted to try something new i went digging through some old threads here

found a nice thread by OmegaNemisis28 for getting leds in a DVD drive and a nice thread by xLastshotx where he showed his fan shroud for the T.R.U.E.120.
guess what...i now got 3 nice leds in my dvd

the top of the dvd is gonna get hacked up as well, so that should give a nice light show

and the T.R.U.E. shroud is a new project for in this project

some pics of the led project

and another update

after a whole afternoon of sawing and filing, and abusing the Dremel, i got me all the parts ready for sanding and painting

so...enjoy

the tray that'll hold the dvd and hdd, the holes are for the cables.

the dvd cover, so i can show off the leds

the sides...too keep the mobo from falling down

the baseplate, where everything will be mounted to

the mobo tray, again

and finally, a pic of how the dvd would be on the tray

tomorrow i'll be finishing up the metal parts...drill some holes for the rivets, and then sand and paint them

and then...it's almost ready

whoa! that IS slow
even here at my work it loads up within 30 seconds, and that's only a 5Mb connection

i'll resize them tomorrow

Perhaps uploading them to somewhere like Photobucket with automatic resizing features would be a good idea...?
will do

all the pics are resized now,
from 4000x3000 down to 1920x1440.
so those with slow cables can view it as well

j/k

Hey all,

it's update time again!

first of all...i've got some good news and some bad news.
the bad news is: the weather sucked today...so i couldn't paint a thing

the good news is: because of that i had all day to make everything fit perfectly

so..here are some pics of the process

and how it all fit together, yes it's riveted already, and yes it's as strong as a tank

hopefully i can start the painting tomorrow (if the weather is better then today)
and if not, i'm gonna try and make/find some feet for it, so the rivets stay of the ground

for now...time to lick the wounds (my fingers feel like they went through a meat grinder
)

have fun!

because of the crappy weather i can't paint a thing

so...i started drawing again

here you can see where i'm gonna place an exhaust fan

here you can see the placing for the on/off and reset switches + leds

also i'm thinking about making a hole in the mobo under the cpu for some extra cooling, does anyone know if that helps?

and other ideas are always welcome
