Is there a specific brand or kind of compression fittings that work best, or are they all the same?

Thanks

I'm not sure about working better, but Bitspower fittings definitely look better (especially the Black Sparkle series) and are the highest quality compression fittings.
Danger Den/Bits Power are a commendable choice.

For the most part any fitting from an established manufacturer and/or vendor will do the job. I would steer away from some unknown company that manufacturers in countries known for shoddy craftsmanship and quality control.
sexah!
I wish I had spent the extra 2 dollars per fitting to get the matte black ones, I went with the black sparkles. It hasn't been long that I have had them, I may see if I can exchange them and add money for the black ones.

Good choice tho.

Can you post a pic of the Black Sparkles? Every pic I've seen makes them look silver with a gray-ish tint, only the pure matte black ones actually look black in the pics.

Pretty please? I've been trying to find pictures of the matte ones too, to see what they really look like in a case, and all I can find are pictures of the sparkle ones.

It may be a bit late but if you want a fitting with some bite (to prevent leaks), even though they are pretty ugly compared to the BP fittings, the Koolance fittings are a great option.
I've still got time; I'm not ordering anything for at least a week, probably two. My family keeps asking what to get me for Christmas...I'm thinking about just divvying up all the parts of my loop to different family members XD

The matte black ones are like this:

The matte black ones are very stunning and awesome as you can see, though the green O-ring doesn't fit well. But I want to know how the Black Sparkles are in comparison.

Gawd....those are so sexy. They should look pretty good coming out of the LT Heatkiller. Do those O Rings show once they're screwed in?
I'm not sure, I haven't seen any photos where they're installed (yet). I see Syrillian watching this again, maybe he can say.

heh...

I was gonna say that the visibility of the O-rings may depend upon the radiator. Some radiators have a recess that the O-ring sits in, therefore can not be seen.

If you don't like the color and they are visible then you could replace them with some Black O-rings.

Mouth watering, buy the matte black ones and trade for my black sparkles. Kthx, haha jk
Or some red O rings.... =D

Speaking of radiators, do I need 90 degree fittings for the rad? I know I need at least one 45 for the heatkiller, dunno about the rest.

You don't need angled fittings for the radiator unless you are working with a tight space or need the tubing to face a direction that won't work with standard compression fittings.

I've got bitspower silver shiny and koolance ones. Koolances are cheaper and they're very good IMO, haven't had any problems with either brand though.
I have the matte black Bitspower fittings, they're really nice. You can see about a mm of the O-ring.
Edit: If you like I can take a pic of the fittings on the rad and post it so you can see what its like installed.
