The best Video card for that rig

Hello, I'm trying to get the best choice for my friend's computer
that is his rig:

Motherboard NameAsus P5SD2-VM
DIMM2: Kingston (2 GB DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM)
CPU TypeDualCore Intel Core 2 Duo E4600, 2400 MHz (12 x 200) (not overclocked and I'm not going to be overclocking it on this ***** board.)
PSU: some crappy generic 400W psu
+12V - 19A
+5V - 28A
-12V - 0.8A
-5V - 0.5A

He ain't going to play on that computer the best games, I thought something like NFS carbon/ COD4 / MW2/ mirrors edge / and that kind of games.
At the moment I am in Mexico city, So I have no problem to order it from U.S
Gracias

I recommend the evga 7300 gt, its cheap and it plays all of those at max or close to max. Just make sure you get the ddr3 version.

Sorry I didn't realize this was the ATI section
Still, it's a good card.

I'd suggest a 8800GT/9800GT. Awesome card for a budget price. And it wouldn't be too overpowering for that rig to handle.
I used a 4850 on a PSU with similar specs with no issue. Granted it's kind of risky, but it could work.

But a 4650 for 37.99 after MIR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131178 Could also work
I suggest an 8800GT or 9800GT. Maybe even a 4650 or 4670

What resolution does your friend play at? There is a big difference maxing out 1280x1024 vs 1920x1200.

I would disagree, I would recommend something alot more powerful than that.
Given his powersupply, I would probably recommend a 4770 or 5750.

I think some other upgrades are in order before you even THINK about a new video card

More ram and a new psu for starters

That aside, a 4670 would probably work
I would say that a HD4770 would be good from the ATI side. An 8800GT would be great as well. Not much more than that on a generic PSU.

I have a rig with a 8800GT and a E4700, and even on stock clocks I can run COD4 and COD [email protected] maxed out at 1080p.

2gb of ram is fine for the moment. None of the games listed will require more than 2gb.
He has FLATRON L192WS screen, I guess he will play at the max resolution available. which is 1440X900 if i'm not wrong.
Let's say i go with 8800GT.
Which is the best of them? the brands I mean.
Something cheap, powerful, and cool(with fine htf)
Any budget on the card? Only reason I ask is b/c the 57xxx series are extremely efficient and would provide excellent performance/power consumption: a 5750 might be a great choice for your friend.

^This. Plus you could through in a 4850 if you find one for cheap.

i say 4850, it dropped in price recently very good GPU. if he can push the price limit then 5750.
4770 for ATI. Good performance for cheap price.
9800GT or a used 8800GT will be fine from Nv side.
