I was so about to order some new RAM for my system - namely http://www.memory-configurator.com/b...SU2-1GBFF.html.

It looks pretty good, and reviews have shown it getting all the way to DDR650, and with impressive results. Unfortunately, just as I was about to order it, I read an article about dual channel. Specifically that 4x512mb configurations are awful, which means that if I bought this memory, I would essentially keep myself locked in at 1GB, unless I threw away this expensive G. Skill memory.

I want to get a high performance system for gaming, but overclocking is also important. After all, playing games for me is more about the hardware I use, not the games themselves. So after trawling through the forums, I still am not sure which would be better.

If I get 2GB, it obviously won't clock as far. That's pretty obvious, and although I know I'd probably not reach DDR650 with my CPU anyway, it's one of those abilities that might be 'nice to have.'

The question is, which would provide better performance in real world applications? If I used DDR650 memory to provide a fast clock speed for my CPU, a high FSB speed and tightish timings, would it be better than having 2GB of loser and slowler memory? I have the X2 4400, so core revision shoudln't be a problem. I was looking at this: http://www.memory-configurator.com/b...IU2-2GBHX.html or http://www.memory-configurator.com/b...SU2-2GBHZ.html

So what do I want? To put it rather primitively, what will give me more FPS in Battlefield 2? =P

Cheers

Whoops. Sorry, turns out there were a lot more about this subject than I had realised. I did search, but the time between typing and posting was long, and account of my girlfriend dragging me out to a swimming pool. However, if anyone has anything to say about G. Skill, feel free

G. Skill makes some nice sticks. They use TCCD in most of their 1GB kits not sure about the 2GB kits.

How can you think of RAM at a time like that

The 4x modules would require a 2T Command (CPC) but it effects benches far more than real world applications. A few % loss in the realworls apps is realistic and minimal.
Selling off and getting the 2x1g would behoov you!
