The Ultimate Android App List is designed to easily navigate you through the best applications on Android. There are thousands of applications on Android and it would take you forever to check them all out. Some are even hidden gems, hidden from most viewers because the app is new, hasn't gotten attention, or no one bothered to find it. This list helps find those apps, bring them to your attention and help get you the best apps for your phone or tablet.
The new layout is broken into sections with sub sections so that you know exactly where to look for a specific type of application. If you have any suggestions for the thread, please feel free to leave a comment below. Enjoy.
Thank you, I still have the GAMES section to do and lots of MORE fun pictures for everyone
This did take alot of time to do, so again, thanks and I will be updating this list very often so stay tuned.
They're all in alphabetical order. If you see an app or game that I've missed feel free to offer the suggestion, I'll look into it and if it's totally awesome, I'll put it into this list.
Great thread. Lets keep this one alive. We've had these a few times, and they never seem to last. You also might want to add a 56K warning or something.
Here's a few of my own as well:
Feedly: An awesome online only RSS reader. Phone and Tablet (and chrome desktop, as well as iOS)
JustReader: A great offline RSS reader. Phone and Tablet Optimized
I really like widgetsoid. It's an app for tons of toggles and allows you to customize it how you like. It's kind of like ADW launcher...but for toggles. The best part I like about it is the fact that it has the ability to cram 2 widgets into 1little grid space. Take a look at the memory + temperature widget below. The best part about it is that the app is free
There's a honeycomb tablet app that I also love to death, it's called Wizz. Basically Wizz has the ability to take all the information from your Twitter, Facebook, and G-Reader and put them in widgets. It's really cool because I never have to open up my twitter or facebook apps, with honeycombs scrollable widgets you can fly through the feeds. The widgets are also resizable =). It's free in the market, but if you want some customization options, you can buy the paid version. Check out the screenies below.
N64oid. Need I say more? Very well done, you'll see almost no lag if you're using a dual-core phone (and if you're using a SGSII, you basically play all games at > 30fps from what I hear.) On screen controls take some getting used to, but after a while they are a lot better than tethering a PS3 or Wiimote to your phone (plus, who wants to bring that crap with them when they're stuck on a bus?) $4.99 from the SlideME market (got removed from Android market due to Google deleting the developer's account. The guy also has a ton of other emulators (the gameboy ones are really great).
Games Section Updated, Took into account a few suggestions mentioned so far. Total hours doing this: 5PM-11PM, 6 hours.
By the way, if your applications are not added to the official list, people can feel free to scroll through the thread and find your apps as they were posted.
1. MIUI Launcher is garbage. In some ways its even worse than iOS's Springboard, since its harder to drag apps around.
2. The Kindle app is fairly mediocre. Take it from someone who's been reading books on handheld devices since the notes feature on the iPod Video: Kindle, Kobo, Aldiko, eReader, Google eBooks, Stanza, iBooks all pale in comparison to FBReader.
Spoiler Tags added for the images to help slide through the thread easier and to allow those with slower connections or on phones to load them up easier.
I'll be using the last section dedicated to Live Wallpapers and miscellaneous things. I'll get to that later.
