The Dark Knight sits upon vibration-eliminating rubber mounts which isolate any fan vibrations from the motherboard - ensuring quiet operation. A tool-less clip holds the cooler safely in place on any AMD Socket AM2, 754, 939 or 940 processor as well as all Intel Socket 775 and 1366 CPUs.

Do I need to lap my Xigmatek Dark Knight?
No, you do not, since it already has a very, very flat base. However, you can if you want to.

How do I mount my Xigmatek Dark Knight vertically? You will need to use a custom bracket which can be found here or purchase here. Instruction guide can be found here.

I have a socket 1155, what's the best method? Are there any special retention bracket? You can order the complete bracket here to help with mount your Xiggy. (Credit to Erick Silver)

Can someone post a pic of this in a AM2/AM3 set up? Is the fan on the bottom?

Yes, when using the default AMD mounting system, the fan will face the video card.

Here is a pic of my setup.

I will be getting a custom mount soon. Then I will be able to mount the correct way.

@Tizmo how are your temps? Do you feel that being forced to have the fan positioned that way for AMD affects temps to a great deal?

Curious to know the level of improvement when you get your new mount

It's not tool less for the 775 or the 1366, you need at least a screwdriver to mount it on those.

At any rate, add me if you want. It's a good cooler and looks nice too.

I have yet to see my 920 (stock speed for now) over 48C.

Yes i put it in upside down, but thats fixed now

seems to run warm though
40*c idle at 200*[email protected] with a 24.5*c room temp

time to start tweeking for that 4ghz lol

Well this is my first chance to put up some pic's of my intel sig rig with the XDK and my wifes rig with nafljhy's custom mount XDK.

Naa... not that bad i've had worse! If you notice with nafljhy's mount i needed to get it to blend with the xdk cooler so i used a BIG FAT SHARPIE and i realize the pic's are not the greatest but in real time it looks great.

Taking it off is not a big deal. You just need to keep things in order.

You can't take off two of the screws without removing the fan. Because I have a top mount PSU, I leave the rubber mounts on the fins. When I put the fan back on, a pair of needle nose pliers will coax the mounts back through.
