EDIT:

Please say why you chose your answer, thanks.

My friend and I want to see who would win between us in a 3dMark06 run.

Here are the rigs (only information affecting the benchmarks posted, haters not welcome):

Mine:
Phenom II X4 920 @ 3.6-3.7 GHz
4 GB of Corsair DDR2 XMS2 800 MHz RAM
EVGA GTX 280 @ Stock

His:
Phenom II X4 955 @ 3.8 GHz
4 GB of OCZ SLI-Ready 800 MHz RAM
HIS 4890 @ Stock

I would think that my rig would win, not by a lot, but win nonetheless. His CPU has a clear advantage though, but my graphics card does over his.

Vote in the poll.

Him...
Reason: he has more CPU MHz, which is literally the only thing that gives score on CPUBiasedMark06

Damn, what other (free) benchmarks could we do.

most of the free benchmarks are CPU based.

Of course, but he needs numbers.

And I think some benchies would shut him up.

Hmm.. tough one.. 3Dmark06 is more of a CPU based benchmark, but you have an Nvidia card (which 3dmark favors). I'd say he'd win, sorry.. and even if you beat him, his 4890 is highly overclockable and his CPU has a higher speed than you.

If I choose to OC my GPU, I think I would crush him. He will not OC his GPU for the life of him.

Hmmm... ATI cards are randomly better at synthetic benchmarks like FutureMark, so I wouldn't even bother at that...

Try a bunch of in game benchmarks.

Lost Planet has a bench marker, there is an out-of-game Crysis one, probably a few more which I cannot think of right now.

FEAR 2 might also have. (That or it was FEAR 1, I remember one of them has a bench marker).

Not much else I can tell you, just over clock your CPU to the same level as your friend's...

I think that you would win though at 3dMark06 though. Although it is CPU based, if your friend has over clocked with the multiplier, and you the FSB, then your CPU should be a little faster than his clock for clock, especially if you have also been over clocking the RAM as well. Hmmm, not much more I can say on the issue, except for good luck killing your friend to a pulp! (Metaphorically speaking, of course
)!

I'm always using this because it shows when the CPU isn't bottle necking the GPU on a better grade than 3DMark.
I think the rig with the GTX280 would win due to physx only.... if you disabled it however.. that would be a different story.

Yep true the GTX 280 would obviously have an advantage with 3DmarkVantage because of the Physx.
