Okay, since I can't currently overclock, and I'm bored and can't sleep and it's 2 AM, I've been fiddling in my mind with possible settings for an OC on a 3700+ Sandy and my RAM.
With a modest RAM OC to 210, and running the HTT at a 4:3 divider with the RAM, you would have the HTT running at 280, which with the Sandy's 11x multiplier is equal to 3080MHz... 3GHz just like that. Of course, there would be various other factors (vCore, vDIMM, heat, yada yada yada), but is this just the basic idea?
You would probably set HTTmulti to 3x and RAM command rate to 2T, just to be safe, but not much other than that.
I think I just now finnaly understood overclocking. At.. 2:03 in the morning.
