I am planning to put together a new computer with an i7 920. The heatsink I plan to use is a Zalman CNPS9700 NT with the 1366 clip for it. Im also planning to have a fan controller with tempurature probes. My first question is what is the best place to put the probe to get a fairly acurate tempurature reading?
The second question is could the probe be attached to the heatsink with solder or thermal compound without destroying the heatsink or the probe or both?
