By February 2008 CD Projekt had sold 600,000 copies of The Witcher. By November that figure had jumped to 1,000,000, and now it has surpassed 1,200,000, pushing The Witcher onto the list of the 100 best selling PC games in history:

First of all, I would like to apologize to all of you, as we're going to brag once again. Yes, yes - I know we promised not to do that again, but on the other hand the occasion is so important for us that we couldn't avoid mentioning it. So what's all the buzz about? Well, according to our latest sales data, The Witcher has sold more than 1,2 million copies around the world! "More numbers," you might say, but let me finish before J Because of those numbers, The Witcher has jumped onto the list of the 100 bestselling PC games in history! Not bad, huh?Nevertheless, bragging is not the most important thing here. What's important is the fact that we would like to thanks all of you - our fans. We did it once before with the anniversary movie, and we just can't stop thanking you for making The Witcher a popular choice among PC games. You are the real proof that sometimes going upstream, no matter what people say, is worth taking a risk. Without you, none

YAY!
1.2 mill that's impressive!

Did anybody else enjoy this game? I found it to be tedious and unimpressive... The graphics were okay but the fighting got old fast because you could only do like 3 moves... Kinda like prince of persia...
I liked it alot, glad to see it has done so well.

Looking forward to any sequals.

You can do a lot more than 3 moves. I found the fighting in this game to be anything but tedious. It just takes a while to understand. It has a very short learning curve to learn how to play and a very long learning curve to really master.

The Witcher rules. It's one of those games you have to play through to realise how impressive it is. I've played through it three times.
^We can tell from your avatar.

I enjoy this game, but I can never keep myself focused to finish the entire game.

The Witcher is one of my favorite RPGs that's been released in the last 5 years.
I was unimpressed with the game. To me the fighting consisted of "click" wait "click" wait "click" watch the enemy die. Next.... Plus it really dragged out there in the beginning. I did not have the patience to get much past an hour in the game.
eh, i played the demo and thought it was boring...
I played for around three hours, then decided it just wasn't for me... I'm not a big fan of RPGs, though, so not saying it's a bad game, just isn't my style.

I was impressed by the "epicness," though.
I really liked that game.Played through 3 times and played the added content.

On hard it takes a lot of timing and skill to get off nice combos. A hour into the game you don't really get very much style to pick from. As you get more talent points you can start really customizing your moves, magic and weapons. Switching up on things mid swing makes for some pretty impressive results that were well thought out. Believe it or not there is a whole lot you could be doing with the whole waiting time that can actually allow you to take on more than one opponent or even bosses without getting hit.

If you master all the above the game becomes a little to easy after like the second level.

The Witcher isn't a game for everyone. Even if you do like RPG's you still might not like the Witcher. It's one of those games where your either going to love it or your going to hate it.

I'm not surprised at all, it's a great game after the first part.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the enhanced edition, the original was unpolished.
i own it but i have only played it about once, its not that great and to me the voice acting is terrible..
I loved the game, and can't wait for the sequel, in fact this thread has made me want to start playing it again.

Voice acting sounded great to me. But issue is, there is no replay value like you said. ...Just none at all... ever.

i'm waiting for a weekend steam sale, to be honest.

The Witcher begins slow and needs a bit of commitment to get past the first couple of chapters. The "click-wait" combat becomes much more complicated very quickly, provided you don't play on easy and give your character time to build.

The original had many translation/acting problems. The enhanced version makes these somewhat less apparent, but even if in the original you accept this is a Polish project translated on a limited budget, the end-result isn't that bad. For the new version it's not bad at all, if a bit robust for game dialog.

My only issue is itemization; there's really little you can do loot-wise to advance your character, and the best weapons you can use are your started weapons plus one simple inexpensive upgrade.
