I have been trying out diferant versions of Linux, and from what I have seen, there are only a few things that Linux does that Windows doesnt. So, I was wondering if there was a way to make Windows do some of the things I like about Linux. Here is my list:

1: Make it so that when you plug in a flash drive or external hard drive, an icon shows up on your desktop.

2: Have a cool, glowy blueish skin.

3: Have a OS X-style "Dock" that can retract when not in use.

4: Have some XGL/Compiz-like effects added.

I dont know how many of these are posible, but please let me know if they are!

For #1 you can have a permanent shortcut. Just plug the drive in, go to explorer and right click/ copy. Go to the Desktop and right click/ paste shortcut. Dunno about just getting it to show when it's plugged in.

For #2 Windowblinds is a good windows skinning program. It lets you customize just about every aspect of windo ws AND lets you chose which ones to implement.

For #3 I know they exist, but I'd have to look.

I don't know what #4 means.
