Thinking of upgrading to a 5850

Well I haven't upgraded for about 2 years now, so I i think its time for me to get a new graphics card.

Question is - Will a 5850 or 5870 be a waste with my current setup? I'll probably upgrade my RAM too and get 4GB, but will my CPU bottleneck too much?

Cheers,

Gill.

Nah, you should be just fine with either of those cards. Especially if you go to 4GB of RAM too.

Ah good, I was thinking it would be OK considering the overclock on the CPU.

One more question - power. Will my current power supply be able to supply enough juice?

The 5850 would be a great purchase, IMO. I still thinks it's a great deal despite the recent retail price hikes. I've been thinking about a 5850 for comp #1, but I'm just not ready yet as my current cards still handle everything I need them to.

Oh yeah. Any decent 500w should do the trick with these cards (single only). You could also easily crossfire a pair of 5770's (if your board supports Crossfire).

Excellent! That's a wrap people! (and I'm spent...) good old austin powers....

Thanks guys.
I would grab a 5850, then look at a Q9550. Your PSU should power all that fine, as long as you don't crossfire. 4gb ram will help with multitasking, minimal with gaming
