I currently have 4x 512(2x duel channel kingston, another kingston, and some weird brand pulled off a dell 3000) and whenever I run with that configuration or even with just the 1 GB Duel Channel Kingston RAM CPU-Z reports it as DDR333 not DDR400. So I was wondering if this is ram issue or motherboard. and if so, is this ram any good? thanks for any help/advice.

1 stick of a lower frequency (IE DDR333 with DDR400, or DDR400 with DDR500) will drop all the other sticks to its same level.

Is it kingston valueram? Cause that's ddr333 ram. You'd have to overclock it to ddr400.

But if you want better ram, I suggest this, much better timings, and cheaper, and from (what is in my opinion) a better supplier.

Though I warn you, clock speed and timings mean nothing compared to plain an simple the amount of ram you have. =P Only upgrade if you feel you need better ram for your overclocking.

I'm in canada. newegg doesn't ship and there's a tigerdirect store 5 minutes from my house. and yes it's valueram. but it says DDR400....on the chip....they LIED!?? and anyways...is that any good? I do intend to do a little OC. Can't do jack on this. or can anyone find anything better? off www.tigerdirect.ca...not too expensive. going DX10 soon. need to save. I've OC it to 220 MHZ according to CPU-Z for now.

I got the valueram here, it says DDR400, so does the packaging.

and btw, is nvtune any good for tuning your system? it says it'll take around 3 hours to completly tune out your hardware.

If I can remember right, when I had 4x512mbs of ram in mine, it defaulted to ddr333. I had to go into the BIOS and manually change it to ddr400.

Whatever you do don't use ntune. I had to learn this the hard way while learning to OC my system. You can get a much better OC (and its not really all that hard once you understand a couple of things)by using bios than any software. Since I don't have your board you may want to ask someone else about overclocking yourself, all I'm suggesting is don't bother with ntune and its coarse and fine tuning.

I've OC the ram to 220. Planning to get some OCZ PC3200 DDR400 Platinum Edition 2x 1GB Kit Duel Channel soon. hope that fixes things.

With 4x512, you may also want to check that the command rate is set to 2T (vs 1T).

At 1T command rate, you won't be able to run 4 sticks (usually, unless they are single sided DDR's) at 400Mhz
