Ok guys, this is starting to infuriate me to no end!

Ok, I have hooked my LCD Insignia LCD26A 720p tv to my GPU with an RCA DVI to HDMI cable.... So... I went into Catalyst AND windows Resolution Settings, and set both of those to 1280x720... but I have a letterbox type deal going on with about an inch of unused screen all the way around my extended desktop...

I have tried creating a custom resolution in Catalyst HDTV Support.... When i go in to set the resolution (the one with the white screen) it fills the screen entirely, and I hit ok, then I add it to the list it shows up as [email protected] (custom), but as soon as I hit the apply button at the bottom corner of Catalyst, the created resolution disappears, because it is the same as 720p standard... if I created one with a resolution of 1280x718p it works great.... but why wont the 1280x720 standard fill the screen?

Is there a pixel or format button on your remote for TV? If so try it. My TV has one and even though I run at supported formats I have to use it, as it has 5 presets on there.

well I got the custom reso to say... for now....
yeah I have it on normal, I put it on wide...
no change
zoom yields identical results

I think its a major bug in Catalyst BECAUSE... I put it on 1280x720 standard AGAIN.. it did the letterbox thing.... but both screens blinked off a minute later and it came back up completely filling the screen...

Ive had some weird things going on with my stuff today...

perhaps it will stay this time... the latest version of Catalyst has some issues

Why don't you just set it to its native resolution of 1366X768?

I can try, but I bet you its gonna upconvert to 1080i... cheap tv... $400 LCD in 2007... thats saying something...

Edit: I put it on 1360x768.... Catalyst was acting strange yet again, picture went into letterbox.. tv shifted to 1080i then a minute later back down to 720p....

Hey guys quick question... would it be safe to bump up the refresh rate to 85hz for the tv? It appears in Catalyst as the max refresh rate...

That might come in handy later on.. because sometimes it does fill the screen and other times it does that letterbox crap.... I think I have most of the problems ironed out though

Edit: I take that back.. its starting to act funny again :/ letterbox is back.. im going to try what you suggested

Edit again: 1360x768 looks beautiful! too bad its only rated to run @30hz, I cant raise it or it goes back to 720p
