I need to remove my stock AMD CPU and apply AS5 and my new Hyper 212 Plus cooler. The instruction manual with the Hyper 212 Plus isn't very clear. Anyone have better instructions?

I have some 90% isopropyl alcohol, would it be okay to use that to wipe the CPU clean?

How do you remove the stock AMD heatsink? Does it have a bracket?

Lastly, how should I apply the AS5? I heard you should never apply AS5 to the heatsink itself, but add a pea size dot and let it spread by itself. Which way is the best? Or should I just use the TIM that came with the Hyper 212?

ALSO! Forgot one thing. My MB only has a 3 pin power connector for heatsinks, but the 212+ has 4 pins. However, it looks like it will fit anyway. Would it be okay to just put it in?

90% works great for me. Pea size dot for TIM. For the fan, just plug the 3 pins marked with the little lines into the 3 pin slot. When putting in the CPU, put it in carefully, first time I built a PC I messed up the CPU pins.

Just a pea sized dot on the CPU itself and the heatsink will spread it.

Google how to apply paste to a direct heatpipe cooler. Throwing it on the CPU won't work as well as it will seep into the spaces on the base.

Make sure you put the CPU in straight so you won't bend pins.

Do keeping mind AS5 has a 200 hour cure time. So temps will get better. I don't know much of the TIM CoolerMaster includes though.

90+% isopropyl is fine. Make sure you're using a microtones cloth with no lint for cleaning. Coffee filter seems to work as well.

Personally I put a rice sized dab on the CPU and spread it with my finger covered with a latex glove, always worked for me and I get decent temps at 3.6+

Hyper 212+ is a heatpipe diect touch cooler. Won't work right that way.

One bit of advice I have is to make sure you remove your old heatsink while it is still warm. I made the mistake of removing a cold heatsink one time... it proceeded to rip my CPU out of the socket and bend an entire line of pins on my new CPU

Luckily for me I was able to painstakingly bend each pin back into correct position, and it unbelievably still fit back in the socket and worked! lol
