So basically I am looking to upgrade my system. Currently I have the MSI 460gtx cyclone

I am either debating running this card in sli(the mobo I have, I would have to do the SLI fix which is outlined on the forms)

OR

thinking about buying a single GPU 6950 and doing the unlock to 6970 or just dishing out the cash and getting a 6970. Need some input basically, or so called reassurance. Lay it on me what would you go with, why?benefits what would I see the most performance out of?

5850 doesn't unlock to a 5870. Maybe you are thinking of a 6950? And 460 SLI will be much more powerful than a single 5870.

Get a second 460.
It will perform well.

And as said, the 5850 isn't unlockable to 5870.

460 SLI is beast, and your PSU will laugh at them.

But like you said, you WILL need to use the SLI fix for your motherboard.

You are talking about unlocking a 6950 to a 6970, not the 5 series.

And SLI would be better.

Yeah my bad I miss typed i meant the 6950 to 6970, since my mobo is crossfire enabled, in the future it would allow for me to go into xfire with them.

Just get the 6950 then unlock it to a 6970 and OC the crap out of it.
