I'm surprised it lasted that long.

Oh!

But srsly, that's terrible! I guess it's meant to be a desktop replacement and not go anywhere.

in b4 the "but all the power+I play games while plugged in" nonsense.
Haha... that's basically a SFF desktop with a built-in monitor and built-in UPS...
this isint a laptop you'd bring to class to take notes...

That's what she said. (lol, so sorry...I had to)

Why would anyone need an i7 laptop? Crysis on the go?
and "no word on pricing yet" Haha, wonder why?

I suppose there are those gamers that travel a lot, though...guess it'd be nice to pump out a few frags in your hotel room or what not.

how come? i thought the i7 is supposed to be the most energy efficient in quads?

did they just slap a desktop i7 in a lappy?

Seems so. A mobile version of a Nehalem chip has not been released yet.

Performance per watt, it usually is.

Yes.

Also make note of all the other excessive hardware in it.

it is supposed to be an efficient design, but they were using a quad core desktop part with a TDP of 130W. The mobile derivatives will probably have fewer cores, fewer QPI channels, fewer memory channels, and maybe a few more extras turned off for more energy savings. The priorities of desktop parts are more concerned with performance and little concern of power draw while it is flip floped for laptops.
