Cool things:
- When I bought the full version on Steam today, it continued the save game from the demo I was playing, which is great since I actually put a lot of time into the demo.
- No glitches or crashes yet.
- Only $20? Ridiculous game for the price TBH.
- Loot stats. Some gear has like 15 lines of effects/enchantments. How beastly.
- Noob-friendly. This is basically the first non-FPS/non-gun computer game I've played since Diablo 1, and I'm having a blast - I don't feel lost or confused at all.

Excellent modding tool: link
Torchleech:

  • It gives you a constantly updating list of mods available online
  • It installs them for you so you don't have to mess with putting files in directories
  • Installing and uninstalling mods only takes a second and no more than one button
  • It warns you of incompatibilities between mods you install

Shared stash, stash, the ability to send your pet to town to sell stuff, this game is amazing. For only $20 it shames so much mediocre titles this year.
So is there really no multiplayer? even just LAN coop?
that would be a shame because the game looks good and has very low requirements
I'm in love with it so far but I'm not sure if i will play it whey they turn it into a mmo, will post some screens when i get a chance to upload.

Nothing whatsoever. Yeah, about the low requirements, in the video options page there is even a "Netbook" setting (which I'm guessing optimizing the game as much as possible). The closest thing this game has to multiplayer is your ability to share items among your different characters.

not really a big Diablo fan, but the game was only $20 so i said, what the heck...purchased
this game is tons of fun, the effects are amazing for such low requirements, and there is a pretty large range of weapons/wands/guns/etc...
can't wait for the MMO planned next year, it's going to be F2P aswell!
Anybody know how to beat the giant dragon (forgot his name, Alric's evil master). Ordrak, that's the one.
Hmmm... I was going to post something about Torchlight then you stole it.

I have been playing on/off since just after release. I got to lvl 24 I think with a summoner
Playing this game makes me wanna install D2 and go on Baal runs. It really needs multi to be what D2 was. The dungeons are ok, not enough variation. Graphics are actually very nice for only being a small DL.

I went ahead and cheated to figure out what skills would be useful for a high level alchemist.

It turns out that a single point of Ember Lance combined with a deep mana pool and a fair amount of knockback is brokenly good.

One point so it is cheap, a deep mana pool for fast regen, and you can cast it forever. With knockback it lets you fire-hose every foe off the screen.

The meteor is good too.

Summons seem to be little more then temporary distractions once you are well past the main story arc and are just diving deeper into increasingly hard random dungeons.
I killed him. Someone told me to use health stealing spells but this game caters to whatever style you like. Mine is brute force, so I ran in, used that berserk slash skill, ran away, heal+mana potion, run right back at him. Died like 3 times but that's OK.
Anyone know if getting an item destroyed to recover the gem, or vice versa, actually does destroy the item? Or does it just seperate the item.

*Never mind, it destroys the item.
This game is amazing. The demo is 2 hours long, more than enough time to evaluate the game, truly awesome idea in my opinion. Buying now. It reminds me of Diablo with WoW style graphics. It's kind of like Diablo 2.5, here is the review I read before downloading the demo.

Afro, did you really just ask if getting an item destroyed to recover the gem destroys the item?

Downloaded the demo, and the game definitely feels very good and polished. Coming from a former D2 addict, Torchlight was a pleasant surprise.

That being said, I don't think I could buy the full game with no multiplayer. The dungeons also seem pretty limited in variety, but I could be wrong...

If they dropped the price more, it'd be worth it for me.
Fantastic game so far. I'm a level 40 barbarian dude, only on floor like 32 or something. When I got my first 100dps weapon I was thinking, dayum, now they are about 600dps each hand and I'm curious how high they end up going, should be fun to find out.

Is there a level cap?
It looks pretty much like Diablo 3.
I would of given it a try if it had Necromancer or "evil class"
and designs didn't look so "anime".

I'm just way too bored with the regular "warrior" "hunter" "mage" selection.
I want necromancers, warlocks, death knights, daemon lords ,etc.

It does have a necro class.....I have one and it is awesome. The design is weak.

Indeed. It doesn't have the same number you could raise in D2, but they are more powerful. You have some curses too.

People have already started to mod in new skins and whole classes, so if you really wanted to you, you could make any class. You just have to code it first.
