I am downloading 2 game files and the torrent speed started varying drastically. Initially it downloading at 500kB/s for both files and then it started varying between 5kB/s and 500kB/s in a sort of sinusoidal way. Any help?

I am using uTorrent on Windows Vista 64 bit.

Edit*: Both files are varying in the same manner (at the same time).

Enable protocol encryption in the settings. Make sure your port is forwarded that you are using uTorrent on.

Other than that, torrent speed will largely depend on the quality and quantity of the seeders and leechers. And the more you upload, the more people will upload to you because of how trackers report data to the clients.

Don't use a youtube video for your own connection settings, never!
Here's what you should do.
Take a speedtest, go the settings and change the speed measurement to kilobytes.

Then punch the numbers into this bad boy and apply accordingly.
You'll get MUCH better results, I promise you this, since it's your own connection and not just some generic blanket config.

I don't think it is ISP capping because if I delete and restart the torrent I get the very high speed up until about 50% and then it goes to the mostly slow.

I did that. Got roughly 14Mb/s download and 1Mb/s upload. I configured the settings accordingly.
